Greenwashing has been on the rise with complex manifestations. With the growing demand for sustainability, firms have developed creative ways to influence public perception about their environmental credentials. This research project aims to examine the different manifestations of greenwashing to understand the extent of their pervasiveness, develop a systematic framework to understand the underlying drivers and implications for the future of sustainability. The initiative taken by the European regulators offers interesting avenues for future research at the intersection of regulation and deliberate vs unintentional greenwashing.
