Research opportunities
Dr. Matthias Nnadi鈥檚 research lies at the intersection of accounting, finance, and economic development, with a strong focus on the application and impact of accounting standards in emerging markets. He critically examines the relevance and suitability of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) in developing economies, exploring whether global standards adequately reflect the unique institutional, cultural, and regulatory environments of these contexts. His work also examines how accounting practices impact broader financial decision-making, particularly in areas such as corporate mergers and acquisitions, where transparency and valuation play a crucial role. By bridging theory with practice, his research contributes to a deeper understanding of how accounting can foster financial stability, investor confidence, and sustainable growth in less developed markets. Supported by grants such as the Chartered Institute of Taxation award and Seedcorn funding, his scholarship continues to shape debates on global accounting harmonisation and its local implications
