Background

Andy studied economics at university and then followed his love of sport into the bookmaking industry, where he progressed as a leader within Ladbrokes to manage a division of 50 shops. During this time, he also became the man responsible for deciding the odds at major test and county cricket matches with positions at both Lords and The Oval in London.

Following an MBA from Cranfield, he spent several years in consultancy, before starting Psychology and Finance at Work Limited - the business he now runs in partnership with his wife Jo, an Occupational Psychologist. Andy has a strong background as an educator, teaching all aspects of financial and non-financial analysis. He has designed and run a wide variety of training events from basic finance for non-financial managers to foreign exchange for managers and advanced corporate finance programmes. A substantial amount of his early work was with banks in the field of credit, teaching lenders to analyse businesses and assess risk, including designing and running a range of sector analysis programmes covering construction, healthcare, retail and the licensed trade.

Andy has also run a number of other businesses, including an antiques trading business and an internet service provider as well as managing several successful property developments. From 2014-2016 Andy served on the Commission into the future of English football based at Wembley stadium, reporting to FA chairman Greg Dyke.

Andy is a lecturer on the Business Growth Programme as well as a Counsellor. He also runs the Cranfield short courses, Finance Fundamentals and Essential Management.
