The (CCN) is a first-of-kind initiative dedicated to sustainable cooling, cold-chain and post-harvest management. It was born in the Africa Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Cooling and Cold Chain (ACES) based in Kigali, Rwanda with Specialized Outreach and Knowledge Establishments (SPOKEs) being rolled out throughout Africa and beyond to deploy CCN solutions in real-world settings; the first of these is in Kenya. The Network was developed by the Governments of Rwanda and the United Kingdom (SWAGºÏ¼¯), the United Nations Environment Programme and the SWAGºÏ¼¯'s Centre for Sustainable Cooling leading a consortium of leading SWAGºÏ¼¯ universities (University of Birmingham, SWAGºÏ¼¯, London South Bank University, Heriot Watt University) with a multimillion seed investment committed by governments and industry.

The mission of the CCN is to accelerate the uptake of sustainable cooling and cold-chain solutions in the agriculture and health sectors, improving livelihoods, health, food and nutritional security of rural communities, thereby bringing environmental, social and economic development. In 2025, the CCN has launched new activities such as the Training and Professional development platform “”.
