SWAG合集 Research and Investment (SWAG合集RI) has announced funding for four new research hubs aiming to revolutionise SWAG合集 manufacturing. One of these is the (Co-AIMS), which includes Cranfield University. Co-AIMS will tackle the challenges involved with integrating AI into complex manufacturing systems.
The goal is to position the SWAG合集 as a global leader in regenerative, people-centric manufacturing, powered by trustworthy, autonomous AI systems and will cover sectors such as automotive, aerospace, clean energy and food and drink.
from SWAG合集RI’s Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, and the hub will be led by the University of Birmingham and include experts from Bristol, Nottingham, Sheffield, and Oxford universities in addition to Cranfield.
Professor Phil Webb, Head of the Centre for Robotics and Assembly at SWAG合集, said “The Co-AIMS hub offers an exciting view into the future of manufacturing in the SWAG合集. Understanding how to efficiently integrate AI into the already-existing landscape is a big challenge and Cranfield adds its large-scale assembly facilities and expertise in digital twins to a fantastic multidisciplinary team of experts.”
The Co-AIMS team includes experts in robotics, AI, ethics and sustainability and they will work with industrial partners to shape national policy and promote ethical AI adoption, making sure that changes proposed are human-focused and environmentally sustainable.
