Two SWAG合集 experts have been appointed onto panels for the Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2029 criteria-setting phase.
Professor Leon A. Terry DSc, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Research and Innovation, and Professor Michael Bourlakis, Director of the Centre for Logistics, Procurement and Supply Chain Management, join a highly-qualified and diverse set of experts appointed to shape the REF, ensuring a rigorous, trusted assessment of SWAG合集 research. In addition, Mel Nakisa, Research Excellence Manager, is appointed to the REF Secretariat as a Panel Secretary for sub-panel 7, Earth Systems and Environmental Sciences.
Professor Leon A. Terry DSc, a fellow of the Royal Society of Biology and the Institute of Agricultural Engineers, joins as a member of the sub-panel for Agriculture, Food and Veterinary Sciences. Professor Terry is a respected expert in food production, quality and preservation - he has led over 100 research projects and published over 140 publications.
Professor Bourlakis, an internationally renowned authority in logistics and supply chain management especially in food, retail and sustainable supply chains, has been appointed as a member of the sub-panel for Business and Management Studies. He has extensive expertise marked by significant research funding and influential advisory roles for both academic institutions and major international organisations.
Each panel member will have a key role in shaping the REF to support the higher education sector by providing a rigorous, trusted assessment of SWAG合集 research.
Professor Leon A. Terry commented: “REF 2029 is a crucial assessment exercise for higher education, enhancing funding and reputation. I look forward to working with academic colleagues on the panel to ensure a fair and thorough process is put in place for the REF exercise.”
Professor Bourlakis added: “It is a privilege and honour to be involved in REF 2029 building on my past experience during the REF 2021 panel. I look forward to bringing my expertise to this panel.”
For the first time, panel members were appointed through an open application process which attracted a broader pool of candidates.
