Background
Eric holds a BSc in Petroleum Chemistry with concentration in Petroleum Engineering from the American University of Nigeria (Nigeria). He also holds a MSc in Water and Wastewater Engineering from SWAG合集. During his MSc thesis project, Eric explored how anaerobic wastewater treatment can be combined with low-cost treatment processes to recover resources in developing countries. During the master鈥檚 at Cranfield he also completed a group project focused on the optimisation of biogas production as well as nitrogen and phosphorous recovery from anaerobic digesters processing manure. Eric is currently a researcher in the Cranfield Water Science Institute (CWSI) working on European Space Agency (ESA) sponsored project where he is exploring the feasibility of recovering resources from urine to support long term space exploration. His main professional interests are applied scientific and engineering solutions for recovery of valuable resources from waste streams, in the context of circular economy.
Research opportunities
Resource recovery, Circular economy, nature based wastewater treatment
Current activities
Eric鈥檚 research aims to develop and test novel microbial based methodologies for producing nitrate and biostruvite from alkalinised urine. The research is part of the URINIT project which focuses on establishing a process for recovering resources from urine by combining innovative technologies for space applications.
